Chilling on the French Riviera

Port Grimaud - A Mini Venice

We found a site just along the coast from St Tropez near Port Grimaud which is a lovely town with rivers and bridges - a bit like a mini Venice.  The beach was lovely here and we ended up staying about a week and chilling after the mad drive through France to get to Monaco.  Also a great flat cycle path going all along the coast road which was good for biking and running.  Bike ride in one day to have a look round Port Grimaud and see the market - as we are now on a budget nothing was bought at the market!

Campsite had a lovely beach bar where we treated ourselves to a few drinks in the evening.

St Tropez - We want a yacht!

Another bike riding day along the coastal cycle path to St Tropez - lesson learnt to keep well out the way of 60 shades with motorised push bikes - lethal!!

Lovely ride in but then spent the next few hours in St Tropez looking like peasants in our cycle shorts and trainers.  The "jumper round the neck" brigade arrived in Lamborghinis and jumped in their super yachts.  D tried putting his ACDC hoody round his neck but it wasn't quite the same!

Really enjoyed seeing not only the port but the lanes and posh shops (window shopping!) behind the port.  All way too expensive for campervan people on a budget though but great to see.

Video of the yachts - lottery win needed!

She's Back on the Blog again!

Mog's friend Chris who visited us in Spain was staying just along the coast in Frejus with her hubby and dad who has a home on the Riviera so we travelled along the coast to stay at a site near them for a couple of nights to catch up - wine o'clock time arrived again!  The next day we headed for Frejus beach - Mogs had a bottle of bubbly given to her for her 50th Birthday from friends Shirley and Sara so we sat on the beach and had prawns and real champagne for lunch - luxury!! Thanks Shirl and Sara!

Bubbly time on the beach :)

The 2 Daves by yet another yacht!
Looking a bit like the Mafia and about to go into the song "My Girl's Mad at Me"...

Ice cream time!

Lovely to catch up with them and had a fab meal at a restaurant near Frejus.  Will Chris appear on the blog again later in the summer?!

We were going to drive along the north coast and round Italy down to Rome but looking at the route and the cost of petrol and tolls we had a change of plan.  Managed to get a cheap ferry from Nice to Corsica so we are off to do some island hopping and go from Corsica over to Sardinia and then on by ferry to Rome.

Arriving in Corsica

After booking the ferry Mogs found out that Corsica has some of the most dangerous hairpin bend roads in France and also the highest murder rate in Europe! M:  Will have to get over fear of heights and not shut my eyes or I'll miss the views!  Could be an interesting time on our travels but first impressions of Calvi and the island which is like a huge rock in the sea are stunning.

Handy Annie Helps Out Again!

As well as being a European Globetrotter Mogs also has her property stuff to sort out - with the help of Annie and G back in UK. Annie has already had her hammer out to sort out a problem in Mogs Exeter flat and she was on hand again this week as new tenants were moving in and a few jobs needed doing!  Armed with tile adhesive and cleaning gear Handy Annie gets the flat sparkling and ready - result: happy tenants - thanks again Annie - gin is on the shopping list for drinks in the hot tub when we're back :)

Heading South

After a couple of days at a site in Calvi near a long sandy beach we are about to head off to attempt the narrow hairpin bend coast road south.....
