Just Driftin' - Driftwood Creations

 

 

Our friends Annie & G had made an 8 foot driftwood xmas tree in Bude at their Shorebreak B&B - www.shorebreakbude.co.uk

 

With all the driftwood on the beaches here after the storms earlier in the year we decided to do our own Spanish version - here it is:

We thought there might be a bit of a call for driftwood trees at the local markets so went along to a xmas fayre and mentioned it to someone - they said 'what do you make?'

 

Next thing we were invited to the Ladies that Lunch Xmas Lunch Club 'do' to display and sell our driftwood art!!!!  44 ladies coming to lunch....

 

EEK!! Better get down the beach and get making trees and deccies for our first sale in 3 days time!!

We were introduced as the 'artistes' with our driftwood art!  We also made candle decorations, plaques and slate signs as well as the trees.  Dave says 'all sorts of shit'!

Had a great afternoon with the ladies at Ann & Andy's - fab B&B over here http://www.lastresruinas.com/ - the wine was flowing, live music in the garden, sun shining and all our trees went and most of the other stuff - plus we had an order to make another big tree for 2 days time!!  There is a business in this we think.....if someone wants it!!

We are a bit driftwooded out now though and have given all the wood left over to our friends for their fire!  Maybe we will get inspired for another driftwood art collection for the easter markets....

It's now the Friday before Christmas - just spent the afternoon on the patio - 25 degrees and sunny - getting ready for our trip home for a week to flooded UK on Christmas Eve - can't wait to see family and friends but not looking forward to the rain!!

 

 

I Gotta Tatt

I didn't know it was Gonna Hurt!

D: Fuck me! It was painful - nobody told me it hurt and I didn't know what 'Stop' was in Spanish - stopio didn't work.

First of all I had my bag of bits - thought I'd take my phone with headphones to listen to music, my book for when I got bored, some chocolate and some sweets and a stress ball (just in case of pain).

FUCK ME I couldn't even touch the home button on my phone it hurt so much - I never even saw my bag of bits!!  It hurt so much mainly my toes because they were curled up round for 4 and a half hours.

But I am well pleased with my tatt - but not going again for a little while....

D: Found some dodgy dealers in the market selling £150 Chanel for 15 euros - thought good buy, nice aftershave - Chanel Coco Noir. Got home went on internet - it was worth £150 - cool.

 

BUT - it's perfume for girls - fucking Spanish twat told me it was for hombres, hombres, hombres!!! Fucking Spanish twat!

 

But I do smell nice.......

Our Asci books/camping card arrived - discount camp sites...

We're starting to plan our route for next year - D says: 'Follow the F1' - M says: 'Where's the Marathons?'!!

So F1 tickets booked for Monaco on 26th May and Madrid Marathon booked for 28th April...Mogs is in training for the Marathon and buying ear plugs for the Grand Prix!

May have to come back to UK early May to get Vannie MOT'd and then head to Monte Carlo :)

Mogs has also entered the Alicante Half Marathon on 20 January so training started with Dave cycling - luckily we still have fab weather with blue skies and sun - cold in the evenings though - we've had to get socks out!!

Tough Cycle to the Old Town

Lovely day for a bike ride - sea was well flat - went to Mojacar old town - pretty cobbled streets - but LONG way up on a bike!!!  We're getting thighs like Chris Hoy :)

You've Got Mail....NOT!

When we first got to the apartment we bought a new postbox and put it up by the front door - MISTAKE!  We've since found out postmen in Spain don't walk upstairs and we are on the first floor!  So box now moved to corner of road at bottom of hill with a few others and we're hoping for mail.  If you want to try and send any our address is:

We've found a bar that has live music on a Sunday late afternoon - fab singer - it's just like Apres-Ski without having to do the ski-ing beforehand (says Mogs who loved the apres-ski earlier this year but not the ski-ing!!)  Will try and put a video on here next time ....

Super Quiz Team!

We were making up a quiz for Mog's daughter Kerry's 21st birthday back in UK on 23 November - so we could be a part of the 'Ford Fun Day' the family were having.  So we headed to a local quiz with friends Fran, Steve, Kate, Sophie and Brigid to get some ideas - we won :)  Feeling confident we went again the next week but came bottom of everyone but the losers get a bottle of wine so not all bad!!  We all toasted Kez and wished her Happy Birthday from sunny Spain :)

Apparently we had an earthquake earlier this morning...


We have an exciting week coming up - D has just booked to have a tattoo done on his lower arm - EEEKKKKKK!!!  Apparently it will take about 5 hours - Mogs will be there to offer support of course but is more worried about driving Vannie home after as he probably won't be able to drive!!  Watch out for the next blog and a pic of the artwork...shall  we video it being done?!!

El Dorado City!

New Toys

We are like the toys in Toy Story III who arrive at Sunny Side Day Centre (guess what we watched last night!!).  We thought we had been to El Dorado till we got to Camping Los Gallardos just outside Mojacar.  Rows of caravans and bungalows all with their own gardens and gadgets!  Most of them with Brits living there all year – we were pounced on as the new arrivals….

While washing her underwear in the wash room in comes Colin – what’s your name? how old are you? Are you playing the games tonight? By games we found out he meant pool, darts or dominoes!  We are on a proper hi di hi campsite with full on entertainment….

You thought Elvis was dead…he’s not and apparently he lives in Mojacar!!!  And plays here every week….aaaa Rrrrrrrrrrrr hhhhhhahaha  rrrrrrrrr hhhaahhaaa - meant to be our Elvis impression!!!

We had a laugh here though for 4 nights till the flat was free – even went to Bingo – highlight – Bingo guy shouted out “Dirty Girty Number 30” – D shouted ‘Slapper’!! Gave the old girls a giggle…

We did have a recording of the ‘Bingo’ song but deleted it by mistake so here’s one of the bands playing on the night later on - you can spot us a mile off - we are 2 foot taller than anyone else!!

Weather a bit up and down at the moment but it’s time to head back to the flat now (Sat 10 Nov) as the Irish couple in there leave today –

What time is it?

While checking our flights back to UK for a week at xmas they didn’t tally up with timings – we had to google ‘what time is it in England now?’

And then googled ‘did the clocks go back in Spain?’  THEY DID – Oops….we never realised!

We have just spent the last 2 weeks thinking England was 2 hours behind us and not realised we gained an hour!!!!!!

Our phones change automatically and our clock in the van looks cool but is forever falling down and doesn’t tell the time properly! We must be so chilled that we don’t know the right time J

 Oh no it’s the Boat Man!

"Oh no it’s the Boat Man" comes up as the incoming call….D sold his boat and put the guy’s names as that on phone – hoping we didn’t hear from him with problems…luckily a minor problem and it hasn’t sunk yet!!

Will be in the apartment for the winter until the World Tour continues in the spring - will blog now and again to let you know what’s going on so keep watching!!

Wot a Pitch!!

Camping La Garrofa - Almeria

Prime spot by the beach with a private patio! But when we got there we were 3 pitches back and Dave said “I want that one”…..met up with Nancy and John (who were in the best pitch!), Janis and Al – great night with the usual gallons of wine and beer - Nancy can drink so much more wine than Mogs!! Not the most flattering pic of M&D but the only one we have with Nancy & John in!!  Nancy & John were leaving the next morning and so the prime spot would be free – time for M&D to get up earlier than usual and beat the Germans to the beachfront pitch J  M was there with the towels (tables and chairs!) before any German had even thought about it and before John had even moved his van out….she was sat in the patio area!       video - our new home (tried to load but it won't go - will try later!!)  Almeria  We took the bus into town - After being in the desert Almeria city is very full (as an egg – JD’s expression) – we still have our flipflops on – look real tourists – some scary people here – D: “watch your bag Mogs!”  On Sue’s advice we were on a mission to find an art pad for D but the shop was shut till 5pm - What to do for 2 hours while we wait for the art shop to open???  Bar…bottle of wine…tapas….  After all the wine, D now has a smock and an easel – D: where’s me fucking beret?!  M: that’s French Dave! On the bus home in the dark – D: “What’s stop in Spanish Mogs?!”  D runs to the front – Stopio Stopio!! Nowo!  Too late – driver says ‘woopsio’ – ah fucko – missed stop – will we ever get off?   Went all way to the next town, driver wrote on tickets we didn’t need to pay to get back – crossed road – bus arrived – told us it turned round there and didn’t go to campsite – waited for another one – on that one we pressed stop button too early!! Angry driver and Spanish people – finally got off at right stop – this bus travelling in Spain is hard work!!!!   Historical and Artistic Moments  The Castle – La Alcazaba    Visited the medieval castle in Almeria one morning – we thought we hadn’t done very much sightseeing and for the historical people reading the blog here are some historical pictures D in front of a historical building   M in front or a historical building very high up   More historical moments         We now feel our blog is a lot more intellectual and getting close to Annie’s blogging standard – Annie is fab at blogging!   Historical moment over – back to basics and headed for the bar – D loved his mini chopper?!    Janis and Al friends round for a BBQ on our patio!   beers started – we toasted Dan’s 21st bday – Mog’s nephew – wine beer wine beer wine beer….  5am – BANG!  D: where’s the fucking awning Mogs?! M: on the roof!! SHIT – next morning……. storm damage the morning after   Boys with toys and drills… fixing stuff   Artistic moments – chilling out  The artist at work again   Another musician on tour  Had a great week – booked for a night or 2 and stayed a week – loved waking up to the sunrise over the sea every morning and Vannie right on the beach - Great to meet Janis and Al - great company for the week – hope our paths cross again on the tour!!  If not we’ll be round for a roast next time we’re in the Lakes – Cuurkbee Lonnsdayle – thanks mum!!!   weather changed a bit today but forecast good again for the weekend J  Tues 6 Nov – went back to Mojacar for a few days as guests still in flat till Saturday – arrived at El Dorado City…..
